Donna Roberts's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
It’s a fundraiser for the Scleroderma Foundation—now the Oklahoma Chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation. Money raised helps to fund the Scleroderma Foundation’s three-fold mission of support, education, and research for the currently incurable illness. This is Oklahoma’s first event and we thank our community in advance for your support. The Scleroderma Foundation is a 501c(3) not for profit corporation.
Scleroderma is a chronic, often progressive autoimmune disease-like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and multiple sclerosis-in which the body’s immune system attacks its own tissues. The disease, which literally means “hard skin”, can cause thickening and tightening of the skin, as well as serious damage to internal organs including the lungs, heart, kidneys, esophagus, and gastrointestinal tract. Scleroderma knows no boundaries affecting all ages, genders, and races. For most people with scleroderma, the disease has a serious impact on daily life with symptoms ranging from mild to life threatening. Although some symptoms can be treated, there is no cure yet.
To my family it’s more than just trying to find a cure, or helping the public to become more aware of the disease. We know firsthand how difficult it can be for patients, doctors, and patient’s families as they struggle with diagnosis, treatment and even losing someone close to them. Our son Jonathan Roberts lost his struggle with Scleroderma on April 25, 2007. We know now that it is even more important to help those still struggling. We want to raise awareness, help with research, and help families that are still struggling with this difficult to diagnosis disease. We do this is memory of Jonathan. We need your help? We can't do it alone. Please help us make this walk a success. Thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts.
