Lupus is an autoimmune disease which affects over 66,000 Pennsylvanians alone. It is sometimes said that lupus is like your body having an allergy to itself – its own antibodies attack healthy tissues and organs. My mother has had Lupus for much of her life and I (Sarah) have been affected by Lupus as well. The hard part is that for those that have the disease you would never know it. Everyone looks so normal!
