/r/Christianity's "Don't Beat a Dead Horse - Give a Live Cow!" 2012 Charity Initiative

Thank you for stopping by /r/Christianity's fundraiser!

This project was conceived by a community called /r/Christianity, a sub-forum of one of the world's most popular social news aggregation websites called Reddit. We're a diverse group of people with a wide range of views on religion, which often ends up in friendly debate. However, in spite of our differences, we all share the same heart for meeting the needs of the less fortunate across the globe.

For eight days - May 14th through the 21st - we're going to shift our focus from lively theological debate (which sometimes results in "beating a dead horse," so to speak) to making a direct impact on families living in poverty. Our goal is to raise $5,000 this week, although donations will happily be accepted after the deadline. We are going to request World Vision that this money be used to buy dairy cows for ten families.  Milk-giving cows not only provide these families a nutritional benefit, they can also be used to generate a second source of income.

Donating through this FirstGiving page is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our community's fundraising efforts.

From the bottom of the heart we share for this mission, we thank you for your donation. We urge you to consider forwarding this to your friends, tweeting it, posting it to Facebook -- and please do keep this effort in your thoughts and prayers!

And if you're interested, do stop by our community for a visit.
