Hi folks,
I woke up one morning this early September and felt the first chill of autumn. I was thankful to have a bed to stay warm and happy to have my own kitchen to brew some hot coffee. Unfortunately, many people in Southeastern VT, and across the globe for that matter, are not as fortunate to have such simple needs met.
With a sincere heart I hope that as you walk outside and feel the temperature drop you, too, will think of those in need and consider making a donation to an important cause: Morningside Shelter's Hike for the Homeless.
On October 6th, my son, Walker, and I will be hiking Mt. Wantastiquet to help raise money for Brattleboro's Morningside Shelter, and we ask you to consider making a donation to support the shelter's efforts.
For those of you unfamiliar with Morningside Shelter, here's a little bit about their amazing efforts:
Morningside is the only homeless shelter in southeastern Vermont to specialize in housing placement with ongoing staff support and life skills development for both families and individuals. Morningside is located at 81 Royal Road (formerly Morningside Dr), just a quarter-mile south of downtown Brattleboro, Vermont. Morningside recently completed an expansion project - two new bedrooms and more living space - bringing our capacity to 33 beds for homeless individuals and families.
For those of you unfamiliar with the mountain, here's an image of it looming over downtown Brattleboro.
For donors over $50 I am offering a personal "Thank You" video (via email or posted on your Facebook wall) from the top of Mt. Wantastiquet from myself and Walker after we reach the summit.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
However, if you wish to send your donation directly to me, please contact me at douglaskorb@gmail.com or send your check to PO Box 23, Marlboro, VT 05344
Many thanks for your support -- from Walker and me! -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
