In addition to raising the majority of our funds for the year, the Ski-A-Thon is a lot of fun! 600+ participants, volunteers, and supporters get together to celebrate another great season with some spring skiing at Sunday River and a day packed with activities all over the mountain. In the process, we raise over 60% of our annual budget in one day. The money raised goes directly towards our year-round adaptive recreation programming serving hundreds of people with disabilities. We have one of the premier programs of its kind in the country, and we are celebrating our 30th anniversary in 2012.
Want to help? You can create your own team or make a pledge. Participating in the Ski-A-Thon is simple. Teams of up to five people raise a minimum of $1000 (with lots of great incentives and prizes to go above and beyond!). In exchange, all team members receive:
· A free ski pass for the day of the event
· A delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner
· An event tee-shirt
· A goodie bag loaded with freebies from our sponsors
All day long we’ll have games and entertainment, including a fun race, an obstacle course hosted by the Parrot Head Club of Maine, an activities tent with demos of adaptive equipment, kids’ arts and crafts, Cassie the Therapeutic Donkey, free massages from the Maine Sports Massage Team, and lots more!
