I know, it’s crazy, I’m running a marathon. And what’s crazier is that I have been running for years, but I have never “liked” to run (yet alone 26.2 miles…I don’t even want to drive that far). So, for as long as I can remember, I have run for my kid’s; because I love them and I think, “hey, they are going need me for a long time (and I hope for more than just a personal ATM machine)”.

So, the way I look at it is this marathon is just an extension of what I have always done; I have run for kids. But this time I run for those kids who “have not”. Running a marathon is crazy, but not nearly as crazy to me as knowing that God has provided more than enough food and water for everyone in this world, but not everyone gets what they need. Doesn’t that seem crazy to you? I didn’t realize it…or maybe I realized it but didn’t want to think about it, believe it, or do anything about it!

You want to know what’s even crazier? A balanced, fortifying meal costs only 17 cents. I thought, how crazy is it that I could let kids starve if a meal cost’s just a few cents. And how’s this for crazy, I took a shower today and used more water than some families have for an entire day. And it was clean, drinkable water that doesn’t carry diseases that kill kids and Mom’s and Dad’s. In fact, in some communities, kids can’t even go to school because they have to walk several miles each day to collect water for their family; and its dirty water. Now that’s crazy.

Then I remembered a familiar verse….For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink……whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. Matthew 25:35-40. And then I thought, did I feed you Lord; did I give you something to drink….did I take care of those who couldn’t care for themselves, or did I turn away?

Crazy isn’t it. So help me stop the craziness! Please join me in giving to those in need; real “life and death” need. Don’t give to me or because I’m running a marathon….give to save some kids and to spread out what God has blessed us with! Give to “the least of these brothers”. I’ll be praying every mile of the marathon for them…………and for you!

Thanks, Drew
