The Drew County Sheriff’s Department has participated in the Polar Plunge fundraiser for Special Olympics since it began in Area 12 in 2010. Last year plungers raised more than $10,000 benefitting Special Olympics Arkansas. Help us support such a great cause by donating to Special Olympics through this website or to your favorite Sheriff Deputy. Even the smallest amount of money helps!
The Polar Plunge is a major fundraiser for the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR). The Mission of the LETR is to raise both dollars and awareness for Special Olympics. Nearly 100 agencies and 1500 officers work year-round in Arkansas to accomplish this goal. All funds raised go towards supporting Special Olympics Arkansas year round sports training and athletic competition. Monies raised from the Area 12 Polar Plunge benefits not only Special Olympics statewide but locally as well. Area 12 Special Olympics includes the following counties: Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Cleveland, Dallas, Desha, and Drew.
Come on out and support your local Special Olympics program and have tons of fun while doing so! For more information, please contact Sheriff Mark Gober at 367-6211 or 723-0832 or Area Director Ked Donham at 723-2539.
