THE BOARDERLINE BIRDERS
2010 PRBO Bird-A-Thon
Our Team
Our (not yet famous) bird-a-thon team is anxious to use our budding birding expertise to raise funds and awareness for PRBO Conservation Science. Our team is made up of PRBO Board members, scientists and friends who have a strong devotion to PRBO’s mission of advancing conservation through bird and ecosystem research, from Alaska to Antarctica, on land and at sea. See some of PRBO’s awards and accolades at PRBO Awards (http://www.prbo.org/cms/45).
Team Members:
Geoff Geupel – Terrestrial Program Director (our only real birder)
Martha Conte – Board Member
Ellen Franzolino – Friend of PRBO
Stuart Jacobsen – Board Member
Jack Ladd -- Past Board Member
Rebecca Patton -- Board Member
Andrew Rumer – Bird-A-Thon Committee
Ed Sarti -- Board Member
PRBO Bird-A-Thon
Our Part: Count Birds! We birded our brains out for the PRBO Bird-A-Thon on October 15th. And with much fanfare (drum roll, please) we beat last year's total of 80 by counting 83 bird species (see list below). Yippee!!! By day's end we were getting worried that we might not match last year and debated the bird-a-thon ethics of counting caged birds (my two parakeets and Geoff's Rhode Island Red and Americana Chickens--which lay outrageously tasty eggs, by the way). Thankfully, we'll table that debate until next year. Speaking of tables, we didn't spot any turkeys, but we hope you spotted a golden-brown stuffed one on your holiday table.
Your Part: Sponsor our Team!
Flat Pledge. Preferable, because we have no idea how many birds we may identify.
Amount Per Species. If you pledge $3 per species, for example, and we identify 50 species, your gift to PRBO would be $150 dollars.
If you donate $50 or more you will receive a one-year PRBO membership. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
Rather not pledge online? Let us know and we will send you a paper pledge form.
Thanks so much,
Ed Sarti
