Hey All:
Yahoo, we did it!
Andy and I identified 36 different species in our first ever PRBO Bird-A-Thon. We did our peeping at the Corte Madera Creek and at Drakes Estero in Point Reyes National Seashore on October 7th. If you are interested, a listing of the species we identified is at the end of this email.
Now, to answer your many questions:
1- NO, we did not see any HOT chicks (I think the binoculars repel them)
2- YES, I guess we are geeks (but in the good sense-did I just say that?)
3- NO, we did not see Woody Woodpecker, any Dodo birds or any Yellow Bellied Sapsuckers
4- NO flipping-the-bird was spotted (but there was this a--hole driver...)
5- Yes, a few of the birds were dirty but not your classic dirty-bird (mating season is springtime)
6- No, we are not peeping toms and do not use our high-powered binocs to spy on you or your wives (not that you'll ever know about anyway!)
7- YES, you can still donate!!!!!!!
For all of you donating on a Per Species basis your magic number is 36. A simple chart follows, but you can donate any amount you wish.
Per Species Donation Total Donation
$1 million $36 million (you better call me for this one)
$1 I think you get the point
Please note that if you donate $40 or more you qualify as a PRBO member for one year.
Thank you to those who have already donated and thanks to everyone for indulging me on these long emails, it is very much appreciated. I think you know that I would not be spending time on these emails if I did not believe strongly in PRBO and its mission.
