Edward Stemmler's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I'm actually working as a volunteer on the Gazela, keeping this 120 year old ship actively sailing. Each year, volunteers and a slowly diminshing pool of ship carpenters work to preserve this 19th century sailing ship. We strive to keep the arts of spiling planks, splicing lines, and furling sails intact and thriving.
The Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild, which owns Gazela, has set a strategic goal of raising funds to rebuild Gazela's hull, an effort which may well span two years and cost a million dollars. The work should keep Gazela operating for another 25 years. Without the restoration, the ship may well rot away and collapse.
This fundraiser will pay for two new sails, specifically the lower main topmast staysail and the topgallant staysail. For more information about the ship, the Guild or other projects, please check out http://www.gazela.org.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
