HDSA-OC Walk For The Cure - Sept. 27, 2008
Dear Friends & Family,
We need your help. Many of you know that our son, Scott (age 37), and grandson, Matthew (age 6), was diagnosed with the debilitating disease called “Huntington’s Disease.” This is the third year we’ll participate in the Huntington’s Disease Walk For The Cure. This year we are walking in memory of our beautiful grandson Matthew who passed away on May 21, 2008 from complications of Juvenile Huntington’s Disease.
On Saturday, September 27, 2008, we will be walking to raise funds for Huntington's Disease research to find effective treatments and ultimately a cure. The HD Walk for the Cure goes through the beautiful campus of the UC Irvine and past the Huntington’s Disease research building. The annual walk is the only large-scale event that provides awareness, education and funds for Huntington’s Disease research.
We are asking you to support our fundraising efforts today. Any amount you can give (it is tax-deductible) will bring us closer to the overall HD Walk For The Cure fundraising goal of $150,000 for Huntington’s Disease research. Through the research of HDSA, it will make a cure a close reality and create a better life for Scott and others who are currently suffering from the disease. Our personal fundraising goal is $11,000.00.
You can donate now through our website or with a personal check. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure or you may also donate with a personal check. Please make checks payable to the “Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA)” and mail it to us at 15 Bronco Drive, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275 by Fri., Sept. 19. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at ejnart@cox.net.
The funds collected through the HD Walk for the Cure and our site will be directed to the UC Irvine HD Research Team as part of the National Coalition for the Cure Program. Thank you for your support in finding a cure.
With love and gratitude,
E.J. and Art Garner
