My story... A few years ago, I began attending fundraising events for POF as a donor. I was always touched by the many stories of the recipients of artificial limbs and/or casting. I began to realize that something I take for granted every day (mobility) can be not only physically debilitating, but affect the actual ability for those without it to thrive within their communities. As I began to think about my journey with mobility, I thought back to how easy it was for me to go to the best hospitals and receive the best treatment for both my knee injury's which allowed me to get back on my feet and continue living my life. But I have insurance and wonderful medical care- what about those that don't?
As most of you know, Paul and I will be adopting a child from Russia sometime in the near future. Russia has over 800K orphans with over 25% suffering from some type of correctible limb deformity! This is a serious situation that can be corrected for most with the right treatment and very little money. This is personal and it would mean the world to me if you could help support the Prosthetics Outreach Foundation, an organization I believe will help restore mobility and independence to thousands of those less fortunate than ourselves.
