Elena Krotman's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am running in the ING NYC Marathon on November 2, 2008. Yup, I know, me a runner? There are a myriad of reasons of why I started running, but the one that stands out is that I want to help raise money for World Vision.
World Vision came into our lives last Spring after the devastating Myanmar cyclone and China earthquake. It was heartbreaking to see the destruction in our backyard. World Vision was already in Myanmar at the time of the cyclone and they were able to mobilize right away. All of Hong Kong did what they could to raise money for the China earthquake and that included our kids school. Through the school we raised money for World Vision to help rebuild the schools that were destroyed in the earthquake. Our kids felt so much pride in knowing that they had made a difference.
My training buddy Nikki and I have been training very hard since January when we both decided "we could this." It has been one the hardest things I have ever undertaken. The training has been eye opening and has reminded me of what we are capable of doing - when you truly put yourself to the task. It has been both physically and mentally taxing but I am stronger from it and will put this new found energy to a very good cause. This has been a great journey and I hope that you can help me cross that finish line with a pledge.
World Vision is dedicated to working with children and families - something that is very important to us as moms. We all wonder how we can help make a difference in the world and there really is so many ways. This is one way . I run 26.2 miles and you donate . I would be so honored to know that your support is helping something bigger than the run. Thank you.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
All my best,
Elena
