Elisa Santos's Fundraising Page

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! In 2008, I became a Volunteer Guardian to the NLEOMF hoping my voice could raise funds and awareness. But most importantly, I became involved because this is a cause close to my heart.  My husband, Sid, has been a Colorado Springs Police Officer for 15 years. Our children and I are very proud of the things he has accomplished over  the years.

Law enforcement Officers around our nation are everyday heroes!

On Sunday, May 6th, 2012, I hosted a LEAD (Law Enforcement Appreciation Day) at Sky Sox as a volunteer special events coordinator. I worked tireless hours, strictly as an unpaid volunteer,  to make sure that game came to fruition. I think it is so important to publicly acknowledge our law enforcement Officers AND their families for their selfless, daily sacrifices. These Officers work every shift to make our communities safe and their families are an integral part of that being possible.

I made a verbal agreement w/ the NLEOMF that I was confident this CO game could assuredly raise the minimum reqired amount and so the deal was struck and an agreeement signed. This was supposed to be the initial LEAD game into our state and be an annual event.

It was brought to my attention today that this game LOST money and the NLEOMF has a balance to pay. I believe I was rightfully shocked and upset given the sponsors' monetary and silent auction donations for the sole purpose of raising funds. I am disappointed to announce this will not be an annual event in Colorado Springs as was the plan.

My hope now is to, at least, recoup the necessary funds to break even, as the NLEOMF is upholding their agreement to pay the Sky Sox. I can say that I did everything possible to try to make this a success but issues arose along the way out of my or the NLEOMF's control. No compromise could be made and so I am asking everyone to donate whatever you can to help this NLEOMF "fund raiser" actually raise money for the originally intended purpose.

Donations will help to pay off the balance owed for the game and any proceeds collected over the amount owed will  go to The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund & National Law Enforcement Museum, currently under construction in Washington, DC.

My humblest & sincerest gratitude to ALL who had a hand in helping me take on this event. I so appreciate the generous donations for the game and apologize to all who were expecting their financial contributions, whether through advertising, donations or ticket sales would be going to the NLEOMF.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

I also have a local bank account at Aventa Credit Union in tandem w/ the NLEOMF here in Colorado Springs if anyone would care to contact me with a cash or check donation directly.

Thank you for helping me to spread this important message!
