The first ever Point Reyes Trails Challenge will take hikers to parts of the park never before visited and proceeds will help the Seashore improve its trails system. It works like a walk-a-thon.
Our park does not have the funds to make the trails system what it should be to give hikers and other visitors the Point Reyes experience they seek. Many trails need restoration on the trail itself and also adjacent wildlife habitat. This is why Point Reyes National Seashore Association established the Point Reyes Trails Trust to raise and allocate funds needed for trails enhancement. The 2012 Trails Challenge is our first effort to fund the Trust.
I will be taking the The 5 Habitats Challenge which leads through the diverse ecosystems of the Seashore from pastoral lands to wilderness forest and coast. If I can take my creaky, arthritic body out onto the trails, so can you! Please donate to support my hikes...or join me out there. Our lives will be the richer for the experience and our beloved Park will benefit at the same time.
HAPPY TRAILS!
