Miss Le Blanc's Fundraising Page for Chicago Marathon!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I didn't know anything about carcinoid cancer before I was asked to run this marathon. It was a completely arbitrary conversation that led me to take on this huge challenge. I was inspired by the simple invitation to join the CFCF team to run in this year's Chicago Marathon. As a result, I can now contribute to the lives of others through my dedication to run. Running has always been a hobby of mine, and now it has a purpose, other than keeping me healthy!
I would like to extend an invitation to you, to please donate to the CFCF foundation. You may not know much about carcinoid cancer, so here is a brief explination:
Carcinoid cancer is the term used to refer to tumors that originate in the nerve cells that produce hormones, also known as the neuroendocrine system. Because tumors are slow-growing and release hormones that result in a wide range of symptoms, early diagnosis often does not occur and patients end up suffering longer than they should. Additionally, as an orphan disease characterized by a smaller segment of the cancer patient population, carcinoid has not had the benefits of large scale financial investment. Right now there is no cure and limited treatment options for patients.
Every single dollar that you contribute will help to find a cure for this disease, and I appreciate in any way you can contribute to my efforts.
Thank you so much for your contribution to CFCF, and I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on my progress in the marathon and the results after I've crossed the final 26.2 mile marker!
