The Tamotsu Yamamoto Scholarship at Mount Ida College

The Tamotsu Yamamoto Scholarship at Mount Ida College was established in 1989, and is awarded annually to an outstanding interior design student. Considering Mount Ida’s talented group of interior design students and the high cost of obtaining a bachelor’s degree, Professor Yamamoto established and funded this scholarship more than ten years ago.“Tommy,” as he was known to his students and the college community, was a professor at Mount Ida from 1979 until his death in 2012. In recognition of his contribution to the College and his outstanding performance in the classroom, he received the Lettieri Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2002.

The Yamamoto Scholarship provides $1000 to a junior going into his/her senior year. To date, fourteen students have received the scholarship.

Tommy was a beloved faculty member, who was dedicated to his students. Please join us in honoring his memory through a contribution to the Tamotsu Yamamoto Scholarship. To make a gift, please contact the Development Office at 617-928-4633.
