VAIL PLACE INC

Tour de Vail 9 Minneapolis,  Minnesota

Elizabeth Van Stee's Fundraising Page

Thank you for visitng my fundraising page!

I have had the pleasure of being a part of Vail Place now for just more than a year, and I feel incredibly grateful that I have found such a wonderful organization to be a part of.

Vail Place provides recovery-oriented support services to help people manage their mental illness, live self-sufficiently in the community, and stay out of the hospital.

$4.60 a day or $1,900 a day, and 80 percent. . .

  • It costs Vail Place $4.60 a day per person to provide its services.
  • It costs an average of over $1,900 for one day of psychiatric hospitalization here in Minnesota.
  • The hospitalization rate of people who come to Vail Place is reduced by over 80 percent!
  • a gift of $32 will support a member at Vail Place for a week.
  • It would take almost 60 gifts of $32 to pay for that one day of a hospital stay.

Friends and family, please help by sponsoring me as I bike around Lake Calhoun on June 26. My goal is to raise $1,000!  Please help me meet this goal this year; last year my goal was also $1,000, but I fell short by $150.  Thank you all who donated last year!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.  If you would rather pay by check, make it out to Vail Place and send it to me by mail.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

And here is a note from one of the members of Vail Place, Theresa, who is also on the Vail Place board of directors . . .

“When I first came to Vail Place, I didn’t have many friends. I had just come out of the hospital after being hospitalized for my mental illness. I had been so depressed and isolated. I was homeless and jobless. Vail Place helped me find a place to live and a place to work. And at Vail Place, I found a welcoming atmosphere and, remarkably, a second family. I found people who are here for me – we understand each other. I have more friends now than I’ve ever had, and I am part of something again . . . not just something, but part of a wonderful community. It has been the key to my recovery.

“Oh, and by the way – I still have a mental illness . . . thanks to Vail Place, it no longer has me, and I have my life back. And I have not been back to the hospital since I started coming here. There are many more of us on the path to recovering our lives, and we count on our relationships with the members of the larger community for support. Thank you for taking this opportunity to help Vail Place provide the support we need to maintain our mental health, to keep us in our homes and our jobs, and on the path to recovery.”
