Kansas City Scleroderma Stepping Out for a Cure
Hey all -- It's Scleroderma walk time again, and I'm excited to let you know our walk is here in Kansas City this year! Mom and I and other Scleroderma Support Group Members and their Supporters have been working very hard to get this going this year.
Medically, it's been a challenging year. I did pretty good through the summer, I even got to go on a float trip or two (without too much Raynaud's trouble). But as soon as school started I got mono. That pretty much knocked everything out of me. After that I seemed to get every flu bug that went by and ended this spring with Strep Throat, and it was the same thing... just took it completely out of me. In April I had some calcinosis removed from my elbow. It's slow to heal but so far no infections!
It has been a blast to help put this walk together this year -- I've made some great friends and we share all the time about the affects this disease is having on us. It varies so much from person to person. If there's one thing I have learned, though, WE NEED A CURE! and we need it soon.
The funds you donate go toward the Scleroderma 3 fold mission: Awareness. Support. and Research. I am doing everything I can to make as many people as I know aware of this disease. I've told my story over and over. We made some posters to hang up in libraries and other public information boards. I've written letter after letter so people will know what Scleroderma Is. But we need your donations to find a cure. The Scleroderma Foundation sponsors many grants to doctors and research groups who are working on finding that cure. Please give and give generously to help us find a cure in our lifetime!
