About a year ago, I started volunteering at Literacy Mid-South. Serving the students at this organization has absolutely been one of my life's greatest joys. The students I've encountered impress me ceaselessly with their drive, passion, honesty, and dedication. Kuang, the student I tutor currently, moved to the US from South Sudan. He didn't know English when he moved to the States. He has worked tirelessly over the past decade to raise and support a family, adjust to a new culture, and learn a new language. We meet together every Friday; his zeal for life and learning are overwhelmingly evident at our every session. In just a few months, I can already see how he is learning and improving. I am so honored to be a part of an organization that creates stories of hope.
