Emily's Boston Marathon Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
It has been a lifelong dream for me to run the Boston Marathon. In 2005 I suffered a stroke and was hospitalized at Brigham and Women's Hospital. I was very lucky to have survived this ordeal, and to have recovered. My neurologist did tell me I was not allowed to run a full marathon (I ran a 1/2 marathon in 2006). This was devastating to me, since this has been a personal goal I always wanted to achieve in my lifetime.
After a few more shorter road races, and a few more years of improving my health and recovery, (and convincing my neurologist :) ) It was after I volunteered at the 2007 Boston Marathon, handing out medals to runners who were crying, hugging me, so filled with joy to have completed their dream that I know I wanted to fulfill my own dream. To have come so close to something so scary has made me realize life is short, and you should always follow your heart, follow your dreams...In the fall of this year, here at John Hancock, I signed up for the 2009 Boston Marathon.
...dreams can come true.....
