The COTS Daystation was completely destroyed by the July 4th storm in Burlington. The Daystation is a daytime drop in shelter for adults without homes. The Daystation is open 365 days a year and serves the only free lunch in Burlington. They offer support, hygiene supplies, assistance with job and housing searches, computer and phone access, a mailing address, bathrooms, and a safe space out of the elements.
Since the Daystation's destruction, some programs have decreased due to lack of space and facilities. However, many programs are still operating in temporary locations!
I have served a year as a VHCB AmeriCorps at the COTS Daystation, and will be on staff starting in the fall. So far, our clients have been hugely patient and accomadating as we switch sites around and depend on the generosity of others. The Burlington community has certainly risen to the challenge- donating delicious lunches and paper products and asking what they can do to help!
Well, now you can Zumba! Or donate as I Zumba to raise money for a new COTS Daystation and to support the contiuation of our programs!
I greatly appreciate anything you can contribute. Thank you in advance! I will also accept cash and check donations.
