Emily Monfort's Fundraising Page
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
The majority of you are intimately familiar with my story of getting a double lung transplant just over two and a half years ago. I was extremely lucky and received my transplant quickly and have had a very successful recovery. I would not have received that life saving transplant if it was not for the generosity of my donor.
Becoming an organ donor is the most affective way to help others that are waiting for a transplant (there are 2600 men, woman, and children in the Pacific Northwest waiting for an organ transplant) but supporting education and awareness of becoming an organ donor is crucial as well. Donate Life Northwest is our local organization that promotes education and awareness of the importance and need for organ donation. Their mission statement is: "To save and enhance lives through the promotion of organ, eye, and tissue donation." I recently became an official community advocate for Donate Life NW, and on November 16th I will be attending their biggest fundraising event of the year. I was asked to be a Table Captain for the LifeSavers Breakfast that Donate Life NW will be hosting. That responsibility entails inviting people to this event (I am trying to fill a table of ten, and then also setting up this page for donations) I hate asking people for money, the exception to this feeling is asking for donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the American Diabetes Association, and/or for Donate Life Northwest. Obviously both CF and diabetese are two diseases that I have, and I am and organ transplant recipient. All of these issues have greatly affected my life and the lives of my parents, and there are thousands of other people who are affected by CF, diabetes, and the need for an organ transplant.
I am hoping that some of you can join me and my parents on the 16th at the LifeSavers Breakfast, but I am getting my invitations out late and the event is a wednesday morning, so if you cannot attend that is where this page comes in.
My goal is to raise $2500 by December 1st. All the donations go to Donate Life NW and their efforts in outreach and education on the importance of organ donation. If you would like more information on what this organization does please visit their website at www.donatelifenw.org and for more facts and statistics on organ donation you can also visit http://www.donatelifenw.org/faqs and http://www.donatelifenw.org/statistics.
Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. You can make an individual donation or a donation in the name of a business. If you cannot donate financially, then please take a moment to register as an organ donor if you are not already one. (you can do that at www.donatelifenw.org)
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Thank you for your support and again for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!
