My name is Emily Trivette & thank you for visiting my fundraising page! In September of this year, I will be running Disney's Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler (I know....it's a mouthful). My goal in running is to raise awareness and funds for Samaritan's Purse projects that are providing relief to the Nuba people of South Sudan.
Why South Sudan?
The people of South Sudan have not only suffered through more than two decades of civil war, but now they are having a brutal battle waged against them by Sudan's northern forces. The needs are overwhelming, and the threat of war has hampered the international response. Samaritan's Purse is responding to the crisis by helping to meet critical needs at two refugee camps. These camps are home to over 120,000 people who have fled the fighting. Samaritan's Purse assists in providing food, medical care, wells, sanitation, shelters, and other support.
Here is a brief video recently produced by Samaritan's Purse of the current conditions of the Nuba people living in South Sudan. I greatly encourage you to watch it: http://youtu.be/zkTQnLbIxyo
And now you can help assist the people of South Sudan too.
$10 - for a Bible in the refugee's tribal language
$15 - for a week's supply of therapeutic food to help save the life of a severely malnourished infant or child
$45 - for a farm kit with basic tools and seeds to help a hard-working refugee feed his or her family
$100 - for a household kit that includes a weatherproof tarp, cooking kit, water jug, blankets, and mosquito nets to prevent the spread of malaria
$23,000 - for a generator-power well to provide clean water for up to 2,500 people - less than $10 per person
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. My husband & I have both worked and volunteered at Samaritan's Purse for 13 years. I have specifically chosen to raise funds through SP because I know that every penny, of every dollar raised, will go to its' designated place - the Nuba people.
My goal is $2,500 ($250/mile).
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
