Emma Cole to South Korea, January 2013

For some reason, when this page is posted up on Facebook, it reads as January 2012 when in actuality, it is January of 2013 that I am planning to leave. Sorry for the inconvenience.

-----

This is my fundraising page that I have set up for my gap-year abroad trip to South Korea in January of 2013.

-----

My name is Emma Cole and in January of 2013, I want to set off for South Korea on a gap-year volunteer trip to learn Korean and, of course, volunteer. I would hopefully be working in a YMCA or children's center in Seoul.

But unfortunately, volunteer missions aren't cheap; with help from my parents, I have estimated the price of the trip to be around $11,000. I need to raise some serious money; my mother is assisting me with $6,000, but the other $5,000 are up to me.

Although I am going to work part-time to raise the money, I am also a high-school senior, and so I have to complete my academic duties alongside my financial ones for this trip.

It has been my dream for almost three years now to go to South Korea and experience life there. And when I heard about United Planet's year-abroad in South Korea quest, I got very excited. Not only could I go to South Korea for a year, but I could learn Korean and do volunteer work, too? Although it's an expensive dream, it's one I want to fulfill.

So please, if you can spare even a couple of dollars, I would be grateful. Every dollar counts towards the trip.

감사함니다!

Another Note: While I'm in Seoul, I've decided that I will take lots of video to send back home so that everyone can see how beautiful Seoul is!
