My Little Story
"Well, we have to do it," I said.
"I know," She replied.
At that point, I knew this was a calling. Let me explain.
I spent the Winter and early Spring training for the Nashville Country Music 1/2 Marathon. Toward the end of that, I attended a World Vision AIDS exhibit. Outside of the exhibit, someone had a table set up for a Team World Vision running team. I attended the informational meeting with my friend Desiraé, leading to the above conversation. It was perfect. The timing was right and it gave us a way to turn personal goals into something much more.
Going through the AIDS exhibit, as well as some other short-term missions I have done, really stirs my heart to want to somehow reach out, to somehow help. But I'm pretty much stuck for various reasons, getting by.
But one thing I can do: I can run.
Joining Team World Vision gives me the opportunity to raise support and awareness for World Vision and what they are doing around the world today. It allows me to be part of something much bigger than myself.
My goal is to raise $1000, which could be ten people donating $100 each, or 100 people donating $10 each. Or somewhere in between. Whatever little bit you can do would be great.
My other goal is to see one child sponsored through this site. If this isn't something you've ever considered, just follow the link below to read more about it. It's a pretty cool program.
So whether you make a one-time donation or sponsor a child, I'll be thinking of you while I train and finally run in Chicago. I'll be thinking of how we're making a difference together.
