FOR MY DAD
Running a marathon is no easy task and neither is dealing with the crippling effects of cancer. After losing my father to cancer in August of 2009, I decided to take on the challenge of completing the LA Marathon.
Many hours go into training for such an endeavor, and with each hour of solitude comes personal reflection. I think about my dad: the things he wanted to do, the things he did. I think about his struggles, and I remember how he fought and taught me to persevere.
He also taught me to value the quality of life, since his was cut short due to the harmful and ultimately fatal experimental treatments that we pursued.
It's because of this that I’ve decided to run for the Make-A-Wish Foundation instead of running for cancer research. I believe the best form of hope comes in the realization of one's dreams.

P.S. Come out on March 21st and feed me bananas every 5 miles. I'll love you for it.
