Eric Doust's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my marathon fundraising page to help find a cure for carcinoid cancer! Emily and I are running the Washington DC Marine Corps Marathon on October 31st with the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation. We chose this charity because in May 2009 I was diagnosed with bronchial carcinoid cancer.
At the time, being 34 and a non-smoking, healthy male, it was hard to wrap our heads around the fact that I had a type of lung cancer. But as Emily and I researched, carcinoid tumors can strike in different places in the human body as a rare and slow-growing form of cancer. Thankfully I am cancer free, with surgery being a complete and total success. We want to help those that are living with carcinoid cancer have the chance to be cancer free themselves.
I hope that you'll share in this life changing journey with us - by supporting us in our fundraising efforts. I realize that in these trying times it can be difficult to donate, but if you find any of that loose change in your couch please pass just a little along for an incredible cause. The cause of carcinoid tumors is still not well understood at this time and there is no way to prevent carcinoid tumors. This is where you can help.
Donating money to Caring for Carcinoid Foundation allows you to have 100% of every dollar fight to finding a cure. In particular, in 2010, all funds raised will support the first large-scale study of carcinoid cancer.
One tends to look at life a little different after an experience like this, and I’m no different. It puts everything back in perspective of what is important in your own life. This fundraising is something that is truly important to both Emily and me. I have been blessed with a second chance, and I would hate for someone to miss out their second chance. So again if you have any wooden nickels that you want to part with, please pass them along to this foundation. They are doing great things for a great cause.
We can’t thank all of you enough for any and all help. We promise to finish this race for each of you, and run for all of those with carcinoid cancer.
Thank you for your support and generosity!
