Matt and Erica - Boston Marathon 2012
Thanks for taking the time to visit our page!
We are proud to say that we will be running the 2012 Boston Marathon in honor of our father who passed away unexpectedly in May of 2011. Not only are we tackling this challenge as a team for our dad, we are also raising money to support his favorite charity - The Ronald McDonald House. As you may or may not know, our father was an active participant in many of the Ronald McDonald House fundraisers. As kids, we would go on their annual motorcycle run to raise money to help these children and their families. Continuing on with this tradition, we hope to raise $1,500 for the organization that holds a special place near and dear to our hearts in remembrance of our father.
The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is to create, find, and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. Their belief is that when you change a child's life, you change a family's, which can change a community, and ultimately the world. Many families travel far from home to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children. Often, it can be a long time to be away from home or to divide a family. And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having their mom and dad close by for love and support.
The Ronld McDonald House program provides a "home-away-from-home" for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. The house is built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child - not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal, or where they will lay their head at night to rest. The Ronald McDonald House believes that when a child is hospitalzied the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed.
We realize that times are tough, but even the smallest donation will make a huge difference in the lives of many children. We appreciate your support!
