So last year at around this same time I had thrown myself into one of the scariest commitments of my life. . . running a MARATHON! However, after a fantastic training season with an amazing group of people, I can honestly say that the day of the Boston Marathon 2009 was the best day of my life!
However, it wasn't because I actually finished 26 miles, made new friends, or was in a bit better shape than ever before. . . it was because I knew that with the help of family, friends, and a lot of strangers, I had made a difference for the kids that attend GoKids Boston, and all of the other children that will benefit from the work that the fine people at UMass Boston do.
This is the cause that motivates me to return for a second year to run Boston 2010! For those of you that are not familiar, GoKids Boston is a program that promotes physical fitness in high risk populations, particularly in low income areas in Boston. Not only does the program help the kids that attend get in shape and become more aware of their health, but it also provides valuable research to the Boston area schools and beyond. We all know that childhood obesity, diabetes, and other weight related illnesses are becoming a bigger and bigger problem in the US, and this program directly fights this epidemic.
So where do you come in? Welllll, I'm glad that you asked! With your donations and even moral support, we will continue to keep this program alive and growing, allowing it to help an exponentially growing group of kids.
To donate to this amazing cause, and support me in running ANOTHER 26.2 miles, feel free to use this page, which is secure and confidential, or if you would rather, send a check to me at 10 Emerson Place, Apt 11E, Boston MA 02114.
I look forward to updating you all on my progress, in training, fundraising, and getting further involved with the children at GoKids. I will be returning to my blog, which is dalyruns.blogspot.com/. If you haven't checked it out yet, I have kept last year's entries if you want to catch up :)
For those of you in the Boston area, I will also be hosting a few fundraising events, so stay posted.
Thank you in advance, for all of your support!
