Erin and Caitlin's Boston Fundraising
Welcome to Erin and Caitlin's Fundraising Page! For the first time in our long history of doing crazy sisterly things, we have made the decision to train for and run the 2007 Boston Marathon together. We'll motivate each other to complete the many training miles between now and the finish line on April 16, but we need all of YOUR help to accomplish our other very important goal.
We both are very fortunate to be running this marathon in support of MassGeneral CancerCare for Children. The CancerCare for Children team is committed to providing state-of-the-art, patient-centered, personalized treatment for infants, children, and adolescents who have been diagnosed with cancer. Through the dedicated efforts of the many doctors, nurses and other staff and the courageous battles fought by hundreds of patients, childhood cancer survival rates have improved to 75% over the past 20 years.
As runners on the MassGeneral Marathon Team, we will raise funds that will be used directly for research and equipment at the CancerCare for Children center. We also will have the privilege of being paired with a patient who currently receives treatment through CancerCare for Children. Each patient and every family wants to reach a 100% survival rate, and we McManus girls will have a personal connection to that fight, too. The marathon we will run is nothing compared to the one our Patient Partners and their families are running every day.
Through this fundraising page we are asking for your help in raising $6,000. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure, and the donations are completely tax-deductible. Any amount you can give brings us one step closer to reaching our fundraising finish line--but more importantly, you will push childhood cancer survival rates that much closer to 100%.
We'll also use this page to update you on our training progress, other exciting McManus Fundraising Events (for example, an opportunity to see Caitlin Irish Step Dancing!!!), and to tell you all about our admirable Patient Partners.
Thank you for reading and for your fundraising support! Look for us on Heartbreak Hill!
