Thanks for visiting my NYWC Write-a-Thon Page!
I'm thrilled to be participating in the 7th Annual NY Writers Coalition (NYWC) Write-a-Thon. This daylong writing marathon will benefit NYWC's free creative writing programs. NYWC is one of the largest community based writing programs in the world, and each week their dedicated group of workshop leaders lead dozens of free workshops for at-risk youth, the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated, the homeless, the disabled, war veterans, immigrants, seniors, LGBT youth and adults, cancer survivors, and many many others who wouldn't otherwise have access to the power of creative writing. They serve more than 1,000 people a year in free creative writing workshops, which is an amazing accomplishment!
I know how much writing means to me in my life, so I will spend June 24 writing, attending workshops and being part of a community of other writers who share my belief in the written word and the importance of giving back to those who would most benefit from all the ways the simple act of writing and being heard can change one's life.
I am especially excited that this year is NYWC's 10th Anniversary, and I'd love to help them meet their fundraising goal! Your pledges will help NYWC continue to offer free, unique and powerful creative writing workshops in neighborhoods throughout NYC, publish inspiring books and hold exciting public events like NYWC Day, the Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival, Write-Makes Might , The Write Stuff , the Writing Aloud Reading Series, and much much more.
P.S. Please consider joining me at the Write-A-Thon (click here to register/make your page), and please spread the word to anyone who might want to attend or make a donation!
