Hello Everyone,
Thank you for visiting my “Polar Plunge” fundraising page. On Sunday, March 1st 2009, I am again taking the cold plunge into the icy cold waters of the Twin Lakes Recreation Area. All funds collected from the Fifth Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plungedirectly benefits the more than 1100 local Special Olympics Illinois Area 18 Athletes.
I hope you will pledge to me money to support this unique opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses to support local Special Olympics Athletes through ‘plunging’ into the freezing water. This is truly a wonderful experience and supports a great cause!
Your donations will help provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the chance to participate in sports training and competition. Donating through this site is simple, fast and completely secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois
Last year 15 inches of ice made the water extra cold, and trust me, we were very cold. But it was very much worth it! I raised over $350! My goal this year is $1000! At the Twin Lakes Plunge alone, atotal of 137 plungers raised an amazing $51,452.39! This is an increase of 73 Plungers and $30,600 from the 2007 Plunge. Currently over 60 Plungers have signed-up!
If you are new to the Polar Plunge, it involves a chilly jump into the freezing cold waters of the Twin Lakes Recreation Area. It’s like a walkathon with cold water – participants collect money (pledges) from friends, family and co-workers and invite them to come out and watch them plunge.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! Donations range from $5 to $25. As my Mom has always said, ‘every penny counts!’ And it does!
If you also want to plunge, let me know!
If you know anyone kind enough to sponsor me, please take a moment to send them the link to my online fundraising page. It only takes a minute to donate by credit card. My page can be found at:
