This year I have the opportunity to run in the Marine Corps Marathon along with many others who make up Team Hansen.  As a team, we are running in honor of Erik Hansen who lost his battle with Lung Cancer. I'm personally dedicating my run to my wife's Uncle Troy McGee who also battled and lost to this dreaded disease.

Unfortunately, during training I had a injury which resulted in a serious lower leg stress fracture (level 3) and at this time it's uncertain if I will run. This is very disheartening since this would be my first marathon and I was excited about running in support of such a great cause. I may try to run in the 10k race.

Lung cancer is by far the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women. Lung cancer is known as the "silent killer" due to inadequate screening leading to late detection. 50% of the people diagnosed with lung cancer have never smoked or are former smokers.
