The Dallas/Ft. Worth Area Sjögren’s Walkabout & Health Fair will be held at Grapevine Mills Mall in Grapevine, TX on May 12th, 2012 at 9:00 A.M.
This is my first year fundraising for the Sjögren’s Syndrome Foundation. The money raised will go towards education and research to help people who have Sjogrens Syndrome find relief from their symptoms.
I was diagnosed with Sjogren’s Syndrome in July 2011 at the age of 24. I experience dry eyes, dry mouth, excessive fatigue and numbing in my arms and feet.
Sjogren's (SHOW-grins) syndrome is a chronic autoimmune disease in which people’s white blood cells attack their moisture-producing glands. Sjogren's syndrome often accompanies other immune-system disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.
Although the hallmark symptoms are dry eyes and dry mouth, Sjögren’s may also cause dysfunction of other organs such as the kidneys, gastrointestinal system, blood vessels, lungs, liver, pancreas, and the central nervous system. Patients may also experience extreme fatigue and severe joint pain and have a higher risk of developing lymphoma, a form of cancer.
With your help, we can provide education, awareness, and research to help find a cure for Sjögren’s Syndrome.
