It's the most efficient way for me to raise funds for NSMC Foundation, a cause that's very important to me under the name of Team Kathie Mitchell. Here's why in the words of my friend, Kathie Mitchell.

"As you are aware, I have been battling cancer for the past five years. Throughout that entire time, I have had the good fortune of dealing very closely with the North Shore Cancer Center, a division of the North Shore Medical Center. The oncologists, nurses and administrative staff at the Cancer Center have provided me with the best care possible. Their primary goal is providing the patient with superior care, while keeping the patient’s needs and desires at the forefront. I can never even begin to properly repay them for all the wonderful care that they have provided me throughout this trying time in my life.

Throughout this entire process, I have been surrounded by a wonderful group of caring, supportive people. Some of those same people got together and formed "Team Kathie Mitchell". This team, comprised of my family, friends, co-workers and neighbors are raising funds and walking as a group in the NSMC Cancer Walk on Sunday, 6/25 All monies raised will be for the benefit of the Cancer Center, and will be donated in my name. It is the one small way in which I can try to thank them for all the tender loving care and superior medical treatment that they have provided for me over the past five years. Won't you please join us a walker, and if that is not possible, would you be willing to pledge a few dollars to me as I walk the 6.2 miles in this very worthy cause?"

Kathie is a real fighter and all her friends continue to pray that she beats this disease. Last year her team raised $15,000 to help in this effort. We all know someone who has been touched by this disease. Please help us as we stride for a cure.  Any amount will make a difference but please try to give generously! Maureen, Katrina and I will be walking that day and would welcome you to join us if you can. It is a fun and uplifting event, not to mention there's lots of free food. Please join us in supporting this very worthwhile event.
