It will be my exact 3 years CANCERNIVERSARY . .and I choose to celebrate it doing something that Stupid Cancer tried to take it away from me! I run because I can!
I run / walk in honor of all the people that are currently undergoing treatmnet and cant barely walk a block! ( I have been there! ). This time I am running in honor of my dear friend Andre who is battling an ugly Lymphoma !I also run in honor of a "cyber" friend Kim who is facing the odds thrown at her with such grace that she inspires me daily!
Andre and I spent college life together and he is the type of friend that makes you laugh until you cry. I dont want to spend time thinking of the times we had but rather look forward to the many more laughs we will share together soon once he kicks this stupid cancer out of his life!
70,000 Americans between 15 and 39 years old are diagnosed with cancer every year ( Andre and I were one of them ...) – one every eight minutes. This is not OK! It’s time for survivors in their teens, 20s and 30s to have their voices heard.
Andre and Kim: I run for you!
Stay strong!
