UPDATE (30 MAY 07)
I completed the Old Dominion Memorial 50 Mile Run on 26 May. Why 50? I broke my right big toe on an Airborne Operation shortly after making the decision to run OD-M vice MMT. With less than 13 days recovery the big toe just would not hold up for 100 miles. 50 miles on a broken toe was a new level of pain in an attempt to meet the fundraising goal for this year. A job half done for this year.
Thanks to all for your donations, and a special thanks to my lovely wife Susan who kept me together for a 50 mile finish (despite my hobbling stride).
Warmest Regards,
Fred
UPDATE (17 MAY 07)
(My unit has suffered three tragic losses in the past three weeks. My attendance at the funerals and memorials for these Heroic men has become my first priority. I can not run MMT 100 on 19 May, but will instead run Old Dominion Memorial 100 on 26 May. My commitment will not waiver, and I appreciate your continued support)
Thank you for visiting my page. Give if you can. If you can not make a donation find another way to help the families of the Warriors.
Running a 100 mile race to benefit the Special Operations Warrior Foundation has become a summer ritual for the Dummar Family.
The running memorials started in the summer of 2004 as a way to honor my friend and fellow warrior SSG Paul Sweeney. Paul was killed in the fall of 2003 in Afghanistan. I ran the Western States 100 in June of 2004 to honor Paul and the tradition was born.
In 2005 it was The Old Dominion Memorial 100 in Virginia.
In 2006 it was the Massanutten Mountain 100 and the Old Dominion 100 in Virginia.
This summer I will return to visit my demons in the hills of Virginia at Massanutten Mountain. (Now Old Dominion Memorial 100 on 26 May)
Susan will again be the bedrock of support for this endeavor.
It is my small way of remembering the ultimate sacrifice paid by my teammates while raising awareness for a special foundation. The Special Operations Warrior Foundation needs our continued support. These Soldier's Families deserve the best. An education for the children of the fallen is a good place to start.
Training races to prepare for this year's run:
Jan - Frosty 50 Kilometer
Feb - Uwharrie 40 Mile, Holiday Lake 50 Kilometer, Myrtle Beach Marathon
Mar - Ellerbe Springs Marathon, Umstead 100 Mile
Apr - Bull Run Run 50 Mile, Crowders Mountain 50 Kilometer
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is easy....donate now! Help the children of the fallen.
Remember a Soldier in your own special way this Memorial Day.
Many thanks for your support.
Run Long, Run Hard, Never Quit!

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
