Cross-Jersey Walking Challenge 2012

Cross-Jersey Walking Challenge 2012

Greetings to all Walkers and Fans,

I'm Paul Kiczek, Founder of the long distance walking group FreeWalkers, and a member of the East Coast Greenway Alliance. I wish to thank you for considering supporting the ECGA.

The FreeWalkers (freewalkers.org) are partnering with the East Coast Greenway Alliance (greenway.org)to invite the public to strive for a personal goal of walking 100 miles across the entire state – from Trenton to New York City within the next 12 months – along the East Coast Greenway.

This program, called the Cross-Jersey Walking Challenge is FREE and open to everyone. 2012 marks the second year of the challenge. The ECGA, along with our sponsors, provide assistance to us along the way. Joining our friendly group of walkers makes it fun and challenging at the same time.

Each year we start anew. You have from January 1st to December 31 to complete the walk. Achieving a remarkable goal starts with a positive attitude and a commitment to fitness and the act of walking.

While walkers may choose to walk the distance at any time on their own, we have scheduled three free organized walks that in total cover the entire 100 mile stretch of the ECG. I invite you to visit crossjerseywalk.org to find out more and walk with us at the follwing events:

• April 7, 2012 – “Great Canal Walk” Trenton to New Brunswick
• April 14, 2012 - "The Tween Walk" New Brunswick to Metropark
• May 19 2012 – “The Big Walk” - Metropark to Penn Sta. NYC

We've also added this year a new 30-mile walking event that's a 50/50 split between NJ & NY on both sides of the Hudson River (more info to come on this event).

• June 9, 2012 - "The Hudson River Loop" Jersey City to Manhattan via GWB

Like the Cross-Jesey Walking Challenge, the East Coast Greenway represents an ambitious undertaking of connecting a single safe and accesible cylcling and walking route from the tip of Maine to bottom of the east coast in Key West, Florida. The ECGA advocates for the completion of the route by working with our local, state, and federal partners along our 3,000 mile route. It requires the generous support of people like you to reach our goal of creating a valuable, free public resource for walkers, runners, and cyclists and other non motorized users.

I encourage you to take up the challenge and walk with us along the New Jersey section of the trail and experience the unique pleasures and surprises you'll find nearby. I think you will find the ECG is the kind of public trail that celebrates the diversity of areas like New Jersey. For more information on the ECGA contact Andy Hamilton, Mid-Atlantic Trails Coordinator, at 267-236-3407.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support ECGA's fundraising efforts. All donations are paid directly to the East Coast Greenway.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

Sincerely,
Paul
