With your help we raised nearly $12,000 for PanCAN, but we're not done yet.
Nik and Gabbi, joined this by their mom, Michelle, are running for PanCAN again - this time in Miami.
Our updated goal is raising a total of $14,000.
Why we're running in a second PanCAN half-marathon... It was three years ago when we heard the news that our dad had been diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer. At the time, we were shocked, angry, confused, yet, still confident he would beat the extreme odds. We knew if anyone could take on the challenge, it would be our dad -- our hero, our best friend.
Why we're running in a second PanCAN half-marathon... Each year, more than 32,000 people in the US are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and almost all of them (about 31,800) will die from the disease. Pancreatic cancer is a silent killer. Most people who are diagnosed have no symptoms until it's too late.
Why we're running in a second PanCAN half-marathon... When dad found out he had pancreatic cancer, he put his faith in science and his belief in "mind over matter." He knew he would beat the cancer. And he did for 6 months! While there is no remission with pancreatic cancer, somehow, dad, like always, pulled off the impossible. Dad found a miracle. While we all know the miracle didn't last forever, dad's experience gives further proof that doctors and scientists are well on their way to finding a treatment and possibly a cure for pancreatic cancer.
Why we're running in a second PanCAN half-marathon... Because on October 10th, 2003, Paul J. Robinson, our dad, our hero, our friend, died too soon.
Why we're running in our second PanCAN half-marathon... To raise money and awareness, on behalf of our dad and all of you, to bring us closer to finding a cure, an end, to pancreatic cancer.
Why we're running in our second PanCAN half-marathon... We're raising money for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) by running the Miami half-marathon on January 29, 2005. Together, we hope to raise more money towards finding a cure. We did it the first time and with your help we can do it again.
So, please take a moment to support this worthy cause. Thank you for all the love and support you have shown our family throughout the last many months.
Much Love, Gabbi and Nik P.S.
