Team COCI did it!  We successfully completed the Lone Star Triathlon on April 5! A group of 73 triathletes and volunteers participated in the weekend festivities www.lonestartri.com.  Bill and I participated in The Quarter Ironman triathlon (0.6 mile swim, 28 mile bike, 6.5 mile run)  

Bill completed the bike portion of the event as a relay team (Bike time 1:56), and I completed the event solo (Total time 3:50 = swim 29:39, T1 5:20, bike 1:49, T2 3:26, run 1:22).  We were so happy to do this for two reasons:

> To have fun with friends and family!

> To HELP CHILDREN in need around the globe!

 

We participated in honor of an organization very dear to us, Cherish Our Children International (COCI -www.cherishourchildren.org)

To those who donated to our cause, thank you for your support!!  For those who still want to donate, please do so.  Your contribution is greatly appreciated! 

 

On a personal note:   Bill and I travelled to Africa and Israel to visit programs COCI supports, and we were amazed by the impact these programs have made.  We met the children COCI’s dollars help first hand. They are children who live in under-privileged areas and who have little to call their own.  They, like all children, deserve to be loved, taken care of and given what they need.  COCI is doing so much to give them opportunities they would not otherwise have.  

 

Our trips were very unique opportunities, and we can say from the bottom of our hearts....every dollar counts, and it counts more than you know!
