I did it! On April 10, 2011, I completed the Half Ironman in 7:31 hours!
(1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run)
I was so happy to complete this event, not only for the physical challenge it was (battled gusty winds and a really hot day), but because my teammates and I are making a difference with some really great children as we race for our finish lines!

Since visiting the Africa, Israel and Houston programs COCI supports, I have been on a personal mission to help as many children as I can. I guess you could say my perspective on helping others has forever changed.
I know my efforts can and will make a difference with many children, like Devon from Houston. Through participation in our No More Victim's program, he has beaten the odds and graduated high school and college instead of ending up in prison like his parents. I know I can help children like Ido and Mohammed from Israel who despite years of conflict amongst their communities they have become the best of friends through our Bridge to Peace program and now look forward to their weekly educational sessions and soccer games.
If you would like to support our cause, one way you can do so is by making a contribution of any amount: $25, $50, $100 or other.
Here are examples of the difference that your support of COCI can make for children around the world
$50 provides daycare support for one child from Kenya's slums for one month
$100 provides uniforms and equipment for two special needs children for one year in a program bringing Arab and Jewish kids together
$200 provides 1 High School Student with 2 healthy snacks a day for 1 year in Houston, TX
$500 provides counseling and transportation of non HIV medications and food staples for one year to one poverty stricken rural family in Romania with at least one HIV+ child
$1,000 provides support in Kenya for one teacher and one "mama" for one month in a residential and daycare center serving seventy children
$2,000 provides a driver's salary and fuel for two months to operate the community transport program in Belgrade serving over 60 institutionalized and special needs children for two months
