This is in honor of my younger brother Drew who loved to particapate in the Special Olympics. I remember the days were my family would go out and watch him particapate in these games. Drew reminded me that life was not about materialistic things, but what a gift each and everyday was. He always had a smile on his face even when he was having a bad day. On May 2, 2004 it was the hardest day in our families life. We lost a Great Friend, Brother, Son, Grandson, Cousin, and Nephew. This is a day that we will never forget.
I just want to tell a little story. The night of January 15, 2012, I met a very special person at a friends house. Her name was Stacey Flemming. It came up in conversation that she worked with Special Olympics. She said that they were going to do a Polar Plunge to raise money for the Special Olympics. My wife and I were telling my story of my brother Drew and how he loved to particapate in the Special Olympics. she asked me if I would like to be in the Polar Plunge. I told her that I would do it in a heart beat. While talking to her about the Polar Plunge she told me the date, February 11. My wife and I looked at each other and Stacey asked what was wrong. We told her that day was Drew's Brithday. I believe this was Drew's way of reminding me of what the Special Olympics ment to him.
