First of all, let me thank you for visiting my fund raising page for the West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS)! I have been involved with WSHS for over 36 years in many volunteer capacities-almost since their beginning! WSHS, from the start and still today, goes above and beyond to help the animals that are lucky enough to come into their care. However, they rely solely on the support of private donations from people such as yourself and believe me, it takes quite a bit of money to take care of all the animals in the shelter and temporary care homes! In fact, over the last 12 months their veterinary bills alone have exceeded over $169,000.00! The Barkapalooza Dog Walk and Pet Expo is the biggest fundraiser of the year for WSHS and they count on it to make lots of money for them.
Molly, pictured, is a rescue from the Keokuk, Iowa floods of 2008. I brought her and her seven puppies back from Iowa to the West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) in order to save their lives. As is usually the case, all of the puppies were adopted right away but Molly was left behind. She has been adopted before but, for various reasons, they were not meant to be her "forever" home. While Molly awaited her forever home, the staff and volunteers at WSHS invested a lot of time and spent a lot of money on her to make her more adoptable. You see, for some reason, dogs that are all black in color are usually passed over in the kennel at the shelter. Molly received a week of obedience training at a dog day care camp and had special volunteers who practiced with her each day, she was given all of her shots-including Rabies-she was microchipped, spayed and heartworm tested. When she got very sick with kennel cough, she went to the vet and stayed there for several days until she was better. All of this was done for just one special dog! All the care for Molly and the puppies cost over $1,000.00!
WSHS depends entirely on your donations to help Molly and other dogs and cats like her who are at the shelter waiting for their new families to come along to adopt them. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. However, if you should wish to send me your contribution directly, please make your check payable to: WSHS, and send to Gail Monick, 4N169 Briar Lane, Bensenville, IL, 60106.
ANY AMOUNT YOU ARE ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE IS APPRECIATED-NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL!
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! PLEASE help me to reach my goal!
