Also please feel free to contact the organizer via e-mail www.christianshoe2005@yahoo.com if you just want to participate!
The Challenge:
The event begins promptly at 9, at the Linwood access parking lot. Please car pool to the event; there are only 75 parking spaces at the Linwood parking lot and it is a very busy time of year.
Challengers will navigate a route in Crowders Mountain State Park on Saturday Sept. 19th. The trail is 5 miles for intermediate participants and 10 miles for our advanced crowd. At waypoints each person will be assigned tasks that they will have to complete for cumulative points. The trail will end at the climbing area; where several climbs will already be roped up. Challengers will get two attempts to see how difficult of a climb they can top out on after hiking several “crowders” miles.
The Clean Up:
After climbing Challengers will be given trash bags; then fan out in the climbing area and collect garbage. The points in the challenge are arranged so that garbage collection is essential. Please get creative for this part of the event!! Here are a few examples:
**bring support members to help you clean up
**Encourage anyone you meet to help you (fellow climbers and hikers)
Bonus points will be given for the person who collects the most bulk in trash and the most weight.
Camping:
Camping is an option. We have reserved a group camp site at Kings Mountain State Park. It has been reserved for Fri Sept 18th and Sat the 19th. After the event on Saturday we will head back to Kings Mountain for
a BBQ dinner, good conversation and great company!!
This event has come about thru a wonderful foundation: Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up (www.climbupsokidscangrowup.com), Climb The World Event, Team Wazungo. This project has been utilized to help raise money for The American Foundation for Children with AIDS (www.helpchildrenwithaids.org). All monies raised go to our projects in Africa (90$ is 3 months of medication for one child and 360$ is an entire year of meds). Camping and food has created minimal expenses; so we would appreciate a small donation for the children.
