As I look over the past 5 years I see many of you in my corner, wishing me well and the strength to go on. I also see Gilda’s Club, in my corner.
Gilda’s has been there prior to Rose’s death, as a friend who helped in a way thato no one should ever know, except in those times when others don’t know what to say.
Gilda’s was there when my Rose died telling me there is a place to go, when you are again ready to be with people, to talk, cry, be with those who do truly understand! Not that you, my friends, coworkers & relatives don’t know what to say, but really unless you have lost a spouse, it is not the same as any other individual or thing in your life. Unfortunately, I can say that after loosing my brother, father, mother, mother-in-law, kitties and my job. It is a loss that I would not wish on anyone! It was and is so devastating to loose the person that you are closer to than anyone and to also be thankful that your love is with G_d, out of pain, but to need her with you even still.
What I am asking of you, is once again, for you to sponsor me in a walk that will allow Gilda’s to be there for others when they need to be.. To allow this so special of places to continue their work in an effort “create welcoming communities of free support for everyone living with cancer-men, women, teens & children-along with their families and friends.”.
