As an individual who has been directly impacted by cancer, it is important for me to give back to those families who are affected by this devastating disease. I have personally experienced the effects that cancer can have on families, having had both of my parents fight and beat it. Through those experiences, I learned how important remaining positive and never losing hope is throughout the process.
When I heard about the great works CURE was doing in the childhood cancer community, for not only the children, but also their families, I wanted to get involved. I understand the array of emotions during the transition, and I can only imagine the additional difficulties that come with it affecting a child. I said to myself I want to help raise awareness to the cause of curing childhood cancer any way possible. I understand that being a professional athlete is a privilege, not a right, and with this privilege comes a responsibility to serving those in need. I am committed to doing all that I can to assist CURE in their powerful mission of helping children and their families live the CURE!
I ask that each of you take a moment and make a donation to my fundraising page - all of which will be donated directly to CURE. Those of you who will be in Atlanta on April 29th - start your own fundraising page and join my race team, Gary Guyton's Give2Grow Defenders. To join my team all you need to do is pledge to raise a minimum of $100. On raceday, my team members will be given a team shirt and will run alongside me in the 2K. Make sure to stop by after the race and see me at the CURE Childhood Cancer Annual Picnic. I'll be tossing the football and signing autographs.
