"...UNRWA is holding its second Gaza Marathon on 1 March 2012 to raise money for the Summer Games. I'll be running the Marathon, and plan to break my personal best time of 3 hours, 30 Minutes; if I'm successful, please make a donation! Just $50 dollars will ensure one child's participation in the Games ;-)..."

The Summer Games is a six-week summer camp that provides a safe place for 250,000 children in Gaza to play, make friends and express themselves freely; an experience that sadly is unique for children growing up in the blockaded territory.
UNRWA relies upon the generosity of its donors to carry out Summer Games. The 2011 Marathon raised over $1 million for Summer Games and we hope to raise even more from the 2012 Marathon. Check out the YouTube video to learn more about the Summer Games.
The Gaza Strip is home to a population of more than 1.5 million people, including 1.1 million Palestine refugees. UNRWA is supporting refugees in eight camps, supporting 243 schools with 219,000 pupils, two vocational and technical training centres, 20 primary health centres and 12 food distribution centres.
