Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I will be playing in the Kyle's Kamp Memorial Day Baseball Tournament to raise money to help children in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) at Children's National Medical Center. We are playing in honor of 7 year-old Kyle Hahne, who was diagnosed with Leukemia in October 2010, as well as the hundreds of other children undergoing cancer treatment at Children's National. As many of you know, I am currently receiving treatment for brain cancer at CCBD.
My battle began in February 2011. Since then, I have met so many other kids who are fighting The Battle. I never would have believed that so many kids fight cancer. What I also found hard to believe was how few resources are put toward fighting and curing pediatric cancer. For example:
- Pedidatric cancer is the #1 disease killer of children in the United States.
- The FDA has only approved one new drug for ANY pediatric cancer in the last 20 years.
-The National Cancer Institute allocates only 4% of its $5.1 billion budget to pediatric cancer research.
- The American Cancer Society dedicates less than 1% of its $1 billion in public revenues to pediatric cancer research.
The goal of the tournament is to raise money and awareness to help those children who are fighting cancer, just like me. Your donation will go directly to Children's National Medical Center, so that together we can make a difference in pediatric patient care! Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure.
Thank you for making a gift, and for the hope you give to the all young cancer patients! Also, don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to help fight pediatric cancer, too!
