Hello,
To start off with let me tell you a little about myself. My name is George Spivey. Some of you know me, some of you may not. I have had kidney problems my entire life, starting as an infant. Having had over 42 surgeries all kidney related, the time came when I needed a transplant 15 yrs ago. Amazingly I had 5 family members that were a perfect match. My Mom insisted that I take hers. A gift I am eternally grateful for. Unfortunately there are to many people that aren't that lucky and stay on a donor list waiting for years to receive this gift of life. We need more awareness out there about becoming a donor.
The National Kidney Foundation of Alabama made this possible for me by fully funding my transplant. Help me return the favor by making a tax deductible donation today, that not only goes to the National Kidney Foundation of Alabama, but also towards my goal of making it to the US Transplant Games held in Pittsburgh, PA in July 2008. With less than 6 weeks to go I need your help.
Now a little about the US Transplant Games sponsored by NKF. The games are held every two years. This is an Olympic type event held in different cities across America where people of all ages who have had an organ or bone marrow transplant compete in various events. From the young to the old, the athletic to the not so athletic. There are also thousands of donor families that attend and many ceremonies held in their honor. The games raise awareness of how being an organ donor can save and change a persons life. Giving someone the ability to do things they never could before and the ability to live. I am attending the transplant games for the 3rd time on Team Alabama. Your support makes it all possible by donating whatever you can to this great cause. Every penny helps. Please help get me to the Transplant Games so I can show the world how proud I am to have a new kidney and a new lease on life. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
I'm running a little behind on my fundraising efforts, because I developed a blood clot in my leg and was hospitalized for a week and still recovering now. I hope to back to normal before the games, so I can bowl a great game and maybe bring home a gold medal or two. :-)
GO TEAM ALABAMA!!!
Thank you so much for your help,
P.S. don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
